From Duluth, GA, Good Word captured our attention with their excellent English beers and lagers, and well-executed, classic session beers.Ā To celebrate the transition to spring, we collaborated on a brand new style. Past Is Prologue is a Czech Amber Lager, also known as Polotmavy. We and Good Word brewed our own respective versions using the same recipe.
Unlike the other Czech lagers in our portfolio, we aged Past is Prologue for 4 weeks in our lager foudre. Therefore, this variation on the style is softer on the palette, with subtle toasted marshmallow and oak flavor. Like the other Czech lagers in our portfolio, its brewed with 100% Czech ingredients. The beer pours an alluring amber color with red highlights.Ā
The 3 main Czech beer styles (Pale Lager, Amber Lager, and Dark Lager) typically fall between 10 to 15 Plato. Past is Prologue lands at a modest 11.5 Plato and clocks in at 4.7% ABV. It's incredibly smooth to drink, perfect for Spring (and we can't wait to try it alongside Good Word's version!).
