Yclept (Hoppy Pilsner)

Yclept (Hoppy Pilsner)

Hoppy Pilsner
5.2% ABV
Tasting Notes: Gold, Chamomile, Elderflower, Floral Citrus Zip, Sparkly, Noble Greens.
4 X 16 oz. cans

Pilsners are hoppy beers, in a different way than IPAs. Our favorite pilsners are teeming with hop character, but not so much that it's distracting, intense, or over the top.

We apply this concept of "characterful hopping" to Yclept. Hopped assertively with German Tettanger, German Saphir and German Perle, this batch has some incredible spring-flower-meets-noble-citrus notes, with a balanced, dry, crisp bitterness. It's also brewed to be a bit fuller in body as a counterbalance to the aggressive hopping and to maintain drinkability.

How does Yclept stack up against Other Ephemera, our Hoppy Lager? Yclept is relatively more bitter, floral, with waves of hop character in each sip. Other Ephemera is much softer, less crisp (but with big aromas of lime leaf and doughy bread). Pilsner implies crisp, hoppy, dry and somewhat sharp, while Pale Lager implies hoppy yet soft.

Like our flagship pilsner, you don't have to pronounce Yclept correctly to enjoy it. But if you are curious, the 'y' reads like an 'e'.
